Tonight the Snacks Not Included crew attended a preview of Parasite at The British Film Institute. Parasite is the latest addition to the cannon of director Bong Joon-Ho’s movies and its one of his best and is destined to make history.
Parasite tells the story of a poor family, the Kims, con their way into becoming the servants of a rich family, the Parks. But their easy life gets complicated when their deception is threatened with exposure. To say anymore than this would spoil the movie. At its core its a film about social class and capitalism. It was a brilliant movie and no doubt we’ll have an episode on it once its out on full release in the UK.
Bong Joon-Ho has been hot on my radar since seeing Memories of Murder in 2004 and has since been a watch on sight director for me.
It was an honour to have Bong Joon-Ho in attendance with actors Song Kang Ho & Lee Jung Eun for a Q&A after the show.
With the election tomorrow in the UK, a film like this definitely hits even harder. A Full Parasite review and podcast episode is coming soon. But we will say this – go see it any chance you get.
